Israel Day is to be held in the National Scientific-Technical Library on the 29th of January of 2013. The Israeli Culture Center under the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Republic of Belarus, the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the National Scientific-Technical Library (NSTL) have been acting as organizers of the event. About 100 editions of various topics such as books and albums on Israel, its history and culture, famous personalities who left marks in history, traditions, cookery, new Israeli books in Hebrew and translated into Russian and periodicals are to be exposed at the exhibition. New fiction books are presented by means of the books of the most popular modern Israeli writers, such as Amos Oz, Meir Shalev, A. B. Iyegoshua, Etgar Keret, Efraim Kishon, Alex Tarn, David Grossman, Hanoh Levin and others.  Russian classic literature translated into Hebrew by famous Israeli literary men is a special thrill at this exhibition.

The exhibition of Israeli photographs “Israel in a New Light” enabling to look at Israel from an extraordinary viewpoint is to be held within the opening of the information stand of the Israeli Culture Center. The exhibition consists of the works of the participants of the All-Israeli Festival of Art Photographs of photographers-repatriates. Photographs of those who come from various countries, such as Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Uruguay, Columbia, Argentina, England and others, are also to be exposed. There are works of famous professional photographers and young authors among them.  A phenomenon of Israeli culture is that this culture is a plant of various inflorescences and not of one root. It formed on the basis of mutual influence of previous art experience of every generation of repatriates and realities of the country which was new for them. Just a fresh view grasps and makes us notice more precisely the peculiarities of Israeli mode of life, nature and human characters. All the people wishing to attend the information stand of the Israeli Culture Center under the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Republic of Belarus and the exhibition of books and Israeli photographs “Israel in a New Light” are welcome.
