More than 200 thousand readers visited the National Scientific-Technical Library in 2012

The National Scientific-Technical Library (the NSTL) and its branch offices served 206.2 readers and more than 3000 enterprises and organizations of all the regions of the Republic in 2012. The total number of visits is more than half a million. About 5 million documents were given to the readers. The total fund of the library and the branch offices was increased by 1.2 million documents and the volume of the fund is more than 51 million documents as of January 1, 2013. In accordance with the requests of enterprises and organizations more than 500 theme information searches and 42 patent information searches for various subject areas were conducted.

More than 38 thousand specialists of all of the economy branches of the Republic were consulted.

It stands to mention that in September of 2012 the NSTL put into effect a new version of websites of its regional branch offices which had been visited by about 200 thousand users from 95 countries of the world. 500 thousand visits have been registered in all.

The system of selected information is a new form of information services for managers and specialists of ministries, concerns, enterprises and organizations and it was put into effect last year.  During 2012 the information about 30 thousand documents was sent by means of this system. An additional patent search was conducted for enterprises and organizations which are subscribers of the system of selected information.  Also 2.7 thousand descriptions of inventions were sent to them.

Besides, the National Scientific-Technical Library created a documental graphical database “Electronic Bibliographic Reference Resource Guides” and a multimedia electronic book “Nanotechnology and Nanomaterial Information Resource Guide”. The databases are on the website of the NSTL http://rlst.org.by. Also a database “Methodist” accumulating the information about library information services was created and put into effect.
