According to him, the projects were selected within the contest of joint Belarusian-Polish scientific and technical projects for 2018 - 2019 in the current areas of bilateral cooperation. ‘More than 50 agreements and memorandums have been concluded between our countries in the area of science and technology. This creates a solid regulatory and legal framework for cooperation and promotes the development of broad contacts, including on the level of Belarusian and Polish universities,’ Alexander Shumilin stressed.
It should be noted that in 2013-2015 the Belarusian State Technological University and the Bialystok University of Technology, with the participation of Eberswalde German University of Sustainable Development, held three summer schools: in the Belovezhsky National Park (in Poland), in Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park (in Belarus) and in Lower Valley of Oder National Park (in Germany). The holding of such schools enabled students to acquire valuable knowledge and practical skills in the field of forest sciences, ecology and rational environmental management.
In addition, the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research has funded almost 110 projects with Poland (one-fifth of all projects with foreign participation supported by the fund) for 15 years.
It is expected to consider the issues of the development of the areas of science, technology and innovation of Belarus and Poland, as well as to discuss the promising areas of science, technology and innovation activities and implementation of joint projects during the meeting. As a result of the meeting, the parties will sign the final protocol and the executive program of the Belarusian-Polish scientific and technical cooperation for 2018 - 2019.
Also, an agreement on scientific cooperation between the RI “Institute of Nuclear Problems of BSU” and the Polish Solaris synchrotron, a contract between the EI “BSTU” and the Polish Environmental Protection Institute and an agreement between BNTU and Lublin Technical University for implementation of provisions of the Treaty on Cooperation in 2018 -2020 are expected to be signed during the meeting of the commission.
