First meeting of Commission on formation of common scientific and technological space of Union State held in in Minsk

The first meeting of the Commission on the formation of a common scientific and technological space of the Union State is held in Minsk. The co-chairman of the commission from the Belarusian side is Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology, and Grigory Trubnikov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, from the Russian side.
There are about ten issues in the agenda of the meeting. It is expected to consider proposals on the formation of sectoral subcommissions, the draft regulations on the Union State Prize in the field of science and technology, as well as the issues of developing a comprehensive forecast of the scientific and technical progress of the Union State, the work plan for 2018 and an approximate list of priority scientific, technological and innovative programs and projects of the Union State within the commission.
‘Following the results of the forthcoming 2nd congress of Belarusian scientists, the strategy of science development until 2020 will be determined. In Russia, the adoption of a similar strategy is expected before the end of this year.
It is necessary to determine the strategy and tactics of the scientific, technological and economic development of the Union State for the period 2021-2025 and for the period up to 2040 taking into account the synergetic effect of the integration of the two states for the full-fledged formation of a common scientific and technological space,’ Alexander Shumilin said. According to him, it is expedient to develop a union program containing measures to assess the current status and conjugation of the scientific and technological space and economies of the two states, a foresight of the technological development of the Union State and the development of its export opportunities on the basis of modern achievements of science, technology and technology.
