The implementation of joint programs of the Union State aimed at the intensive development of the economy by means of innovation is an integral part of the Belarusian-Russian integration. This was announced today at the meeting of the Working Group on Cooperation of the Republic of Belarus with the Kaluga Region of the Russian Federation by Alexander Shumilin,  Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology. According to him, the research and educational organizations of the Kaluga region take an active part in the implementation of the union programs. Thus, the cluster enterprise of the SPO "Technology" is a participant of the US program for the development of innovative technologies and engineering for the production of competitive composite materials, matrices and reinforcing elements.

The Medical Radiological Research Center named after A. Tsyba and the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Radiology and Agroecology carry out the joint work with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus within the Union program for overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl catastrophe. Alexander Shumilin also noted that the priority area of the Belarusian-Russian cooperation is the cooperation with the Russian regions and the Forums of the regions, which are regularly held

‘77 documents on cooperation were signed and the commercial contracts worth 450 million USD were concluded only according to the results of the last fourth forum that was held in Moscow,’ the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology stressed.

The parties will discuss the issues of cooperation in the field of industry, agro-industrial complex, construction and transport, healthcare, as well as cooperation in science, technology and innovation, including in the areas of mutual interest during the meeting. Following the meeting of the Working Group, it is expected to sign a plan of measures for the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Kaluga Region on the trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation for 2018-2020.

The visit of the delegation of the Kaluga region of the Russian Federation under the leadership of Dmitry Denisov, First Deputy Governor, to Minsk will last until December 7. The agenda of the visit includes meetings and negotiations in the Ministry of Architecture and Construction, the Ministry of Health, the BelCCI and other organizations.

Reference: the turnover of the Republic of Belarus and the Kaluga region amounted to 337.5 million USD and increased by 29% compared to the same period in 2016 in January-September 2017. The exports amounted to 91.6 million USD and increased by 19.3%. The imports amounted to 245.9 million USD and increased by 33.1%. Trucks, power generators, computers for automatic information processing, road and construction machinery were new positions in the export basket compared with 2016.
