In 2019, 135 applications were submitted to the Republican contest of innovation projects, of which 54 were nominated in the “Best Innovation Project”, and 81 projects were nominated in the “Best Youth Innovation Project” nomination. This was reported today at the ceremony of awarding the contest winners by the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Shumilin. According to him, every year interest in the contest is growing, the number of applications is increasing, the audience of the competition is expanding.

In 2019, the participants were project developers from educational institutions (from schools and colleges to universities), research institutes, centers, the National Academy of Sciences, enterprises, as well as groups of authors, and individual entrepreneurs.

Of the 135 applications received for the contest, the best of them were sent for examination, the number of which this year amounted to 80 projects: 38 - in the nomination "Best Innovation Project", 42 - in the nomination "Best Youth Innovation Project". As in previous years, the largest number of projects relate to the field of IT technologies (23 projects, or 28.8% of the total) and electronics and instrumentation (17 projects, or 21.3% of the total). At the same time, it should be noted a significantly increased number of projects in the field of engineering (11 projects versus 7 projects in 2018).

This year a new format for reviewing and presenting the projects was designed: the participants gave three-minute pitch presentations, which made it possible for members of the Competition Council to use a modern approach to evaluating the presentations and choosing a winner. By the decision of the Competition Council, in each nomination 1 winner and 5 prize-winners were chosen - 2 projects each received 2nd place, 3 projects each - 3rd place. The authors of these projects will be awarded today with valuable prizes and cash prizes in the amount of 2130.0 rubles, 1420.0 rubles and 710.0 rubles for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. As in the previous year, 8 projects for further commercialization were selected among the winners and prize winners of the competition. Each of them will receive a certificate in the amount of 14 560.50 rubles. In addition, all finalists of the competition were awarded with special diplomas of the SCST.
