The development of the innovation infrastructure subjects and the formation of an entrepreneurial environment at the university will be the priority areas for the development of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno for the next five years. This was discussed at a meeting of the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Shumilin with students, undergraduates and teachers of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The university also plans to conduct fundamental and applied scientific research to solve the problems of the real sector of the economy not only in the Grodno region, but also in the country as a whole. By the way, more than 150 research projects are carried out annually by the structural divisions of the university within the framework of assignments of various scientific programs, of which about 65% can be applied.

“Integration of education, science and industry, creating conditions for the commercialization of the research results and innovation activities of students, undergraduates, graduate students and teachers are crucial for the implementation of the University 3.0 project and the development of innovative entrepreneurship in the region,” said Alexander Shumilin. According to him, the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is the leading center of science and innovation in the region, which has highly qualified scientific personnel and a modern material and technical base. Over the past three years, with the support of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the university has purchased 28 units of modern scientific equipment and instruments. Two more instruments - an electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometer SPINSCAN X and a multifrequency immittance meter - are to be purchased in the near future. “For the development and self-realization of creative and scientific youth, the formation business competencies in the commercialization of the results of their educational and scientific activities, the university has created all the conditions: a science and technology park with unique high-tech equipment and a technology transfer center,” stressed the Chairman of the SCST. In addition, the system of annual open competitions for student start-up projects "InNaStart" and the Studio of Projects and Startups is being developed, which helps in the search, formation and further promotion of innovative ideas with the prospect of implementation, as well as the Foundation for the Innovative Development of the University, within which annual competitions for grants organized for the implementation of research and innovation projects by students and staff of the university.

At Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, there is a process of inventive and rationalization activities and objects of intellectual property creation. Over the past five years, the university has filed 30 applications and received 17 titles of protection (patents) for intellectual property objects, including 2 patents for inventions and 15 patents for utility models. During the same period, more than a thousand developments of the university were introduced into industrial production.

The efficiency of research and innovation activities at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is confirmed by high international recognition. Thus, according to the ranking of Webometrics (Ranking Web of Universities), the university is ranked 3rd among all Belarusian higher education institutions and 3335th in the world ranking of universities. Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno is the only regional university in Belarus included in the QS EECA rating system. Also, the university is included in the TOP-10 rating of higher education institutions and research institutes of Belarus according to the Hirsch index, and the Scopus database.
