Export of Belarusian high-tech products in 2019 reached almost $ 15 billion

In 2019, the share of exports of high-tech and high-tech products in the total volume of Belarusian exports amounted to more than 35% and reached almost 15 billion US dollars. This was announced today at a press conference by the Chairman of the State Committee on science and technology of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Shumilin. According to him, the economy of intellectual property has also been characterized by significant rates of development in recent years. Thus, at the end of the year, the export of services in the field of payment for the use of intellectual property objects exceeded 100 million us dollars.

Alexander Shumilin also noted that in 2019, international contacts and cooperation in scientific, technical and innovative areas were actively developing. Intergovernmental commissions and working groups on scientific and technical cooperation with Georgia, India, Latvia, Mongolia, Serbia, Uzbekistan, and South Korea were held by the SCST. Systematic work is being carried out within the framework of the Interstate Council for cooperation in the scientific, technical and innovation spheres of the CIS and the Commission for the formation of a single scientific and technological space of the Union state.

In 2019, 112 joint international scientific and technical projects were implemented with countries such as China, Korea, Israel, Vietnam, Cuba, India, Pakistan, Poland, Serbia, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, which is more than 30 percent more than in 2018. For the first time, competitions are held with Germany, Turkey, Slovakia and Israel.

Cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere with China is actively developing. By the way, the number of joint scientific and technical projects increased by 65%: if 21 joint projects were implemented in 2015-2016, 35 Belarusian-Chinese scientific and technical projects in the field of microelectronics, optical and laser technologies, biotechnologies, and new materials were approved for implementation in 2019.

In 2019, a large-scale program was implemented by the UN economic Commission for Europe and the state Committee to improve the capabilities of government agencies to manage risks in the field of scientific, technical and innovative activities. Together with this UN Commission, work has been launched on the formation of a national system of technological forecasting in the Republic.

It should also be noted that the cost of manufactured products and services provided within the framework of scientific and technical programs in 2019 reached almost 5 billion rubles, which is 2 percent higher than last year's level (4.8 billion rubles). The achievement of these results was largely facilitated by systematic work to ensure full funding for applied scientific research carried out within the framework of scientific and technical programs. For example, in 2019, almost 76 million rubles were allocated to Finance research and development from the Republican centralized and local innovation funds, which is 18% more than in 2018.

The development of domestic scientists and manufacturers formed the basis for the implementation of several innovative projects of the State program of innovative development. As part of the program, 98 innovative projects were implemented in 2019, and 8 new production facilities were put into operation.
