The volume of products and services produced in the framework of scientific and technical programs reached almost 5 billion rubles in 2019, which is 2% higher than the volume of 2018 and exceeds the pace of production in traditional sectors of the economy. This was announced today at the republican meeting of the scientific community dedicated to the Day of Belarusian Science by the Chairman on the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Shumilin. According to him, over the past year, developments have been created that are of key importance not only for the economy of the republic, but also of interest to the world community. For example, KBTEM-OMO scientists created and exported to Taiwan (the world leader in the production of microelectronics) a laser-optical installation for the automated correction of microstructures of phase-shifting photo masks worth more than $ 1.6 million for the manufacture of ultra-large integrated circuits.

Together with machine scientists, scientists have developed an on-board monitoring system for BelAZ small and medium-sized dump trucks, which provides diagnostics, collection and processing of information from various sensors, which allows this type of mining equipment to outperform its foreign competitors in traffic safety.

To increase the competitiveness of our agricultural equipment in Asia and South America, scientists have developed and mastered the production of a semi-trailer transport and technological system on a triaxial chassis for applying solid organic fertilizers to the soil with a lifting capacity of 25 tons, characterized by low pressure on the soil and year-round use.

Algorithms for screening and secondary prophylaxis of colorectal cancer, a method of molecular genetic and radiation diagnostics of prostate cancer are introduced in medicine, which significantly increases the effectiveness of the treatment of these serious diseases. To combat acute intestinal infections, a line of multiplex kits for the laboratory detection of intestinal viruses has been developed, which allows you to identify the disease in the early stages and promptly prescribe treatment.

To create new varieties of domestic motor fuels, a multifunctional diesel fuel additive based on methyl esters of fatty acids, which is not inferior to foreign counterparts in lubricating, antioxidant, but 1.5 times, was created and registered in the EU list of approved for use in the European Union lower than their price.

Scientists-agrarians have created and are undergoing varietal testing of a new cultivar of potato "Vodar" with a yield of more than 70 tons per hectare, which has an increased resistance to phyto-diseases, to moisture deficiency and mechanical damage and is intended primarily for fast-food system organizations.

Alexander Shumilin also said that the successes of Belarusian scientists have been confirmed by the international community. In 2019, Belarus took 72nd place in the Global International Innovation Index, increasing its rating by 14 positions compared to 2018. To increase international ratings, the State Committee, together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, continues to implement a joint program to increase the effectiveness of scientific, technical and innovative activities in Belarus.

It should be noted that the SCST together with the NAS of Belarus has already prepared a draft Decree of the Head of State “On priority areas of scientific, scientific, technical and innovative activity for 2021–2025”, which was approved by the Commission on State Scientific and Technical Policy under the Council of Ministers. On this basis, new state, industry and regional scientific and technical programs will be developed this year with an increase in their economic efficiency up to 40%.
