Passenger transport in the cities of Belarus is planned to be actively converted to electricity. This was announced by Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology Alexander Shumilin during the opening of the XXV Belarusian Energy and Environmental Forum Energy Expo 2021, as BELTA reports.

"Energy and environmental issues have always been the drivers of innovation. Our country has recently adopted a state program for the development of electric transport. We set an ambitious goal to convert 45% of passenger transport in cities to electricity by 2025. It is impossible to do this without new materials, technologies, energy storage devices that are being developed and created today," Alexander Shumilin said.

He noted that much attention is also paid to the issue of waste recycling. "We must develop our economy and industry, but with a minimum burden on the environment. Waste recycling is an important area of science and technology," the Chairman of the SCNT noted.Alexander Shumilin.

Today at the international specialized exhibition "Energy. Ecology. Energy saving. Electro" (EnergyExpo) presents about 130 scientific, technical and innovative developments in the field of energy and rational energy conservation, geology, environmental protection, environmental safety. Institutions and organizations of the National Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection demonstrate their exhibits at the collective stand of the State Committee for Science and Technology.

Among the most interesting developments - a software and hardware complex in the form of a wireless single-level system for collecting, accounting, processing and transmitting information about energy consumption (ASKUER) based on a Smart meter, organomineral fertilizers and preparations that allow restoring the fertile layer of the earth, lactic acid synthesis technology for obtaining biodegradable polymer materials, technology for manufacturing energy-saving flat aluminum heating elements, architectural 3D layout of the center with a solar power plant with light and dynamic display of electricity generation during daylight hours and others.

The international specialized exhibition Energy Expo takes place in the capital's Football Arena (on the same site with the international specialized exhibitions Oil & Gas Technologies, Atomexpo-Belarus, Exposvet, Water and Air Technologies, Expogorod).
