The active introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, biometric identification, and remote banking services accelerate the digitalization of almost all aspects of human life and the state as a whole. This was announced today at the opening of the IX International Scientific and Practical Conference on the Problems of ensuring National security «Security in the context of threat transformation: current problems and solutions» by the Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Shumilin. According to him, new technologies have become another step towards «realistic virtual objects and physical interaction» in the digital universe. However, the development of information technology is not only a benefit, but also a threat.

«Our life with the development of modern information technologies becomes more comfortable and of high quality. But, like any medal, this one also has a downside. These are fakes, which we do not stop fighting, and direct financial losses that are possible with careless behavior on the Network, and cybercrime - causing real damage to the economy», Alexander Shumilin stressed. By the way, unlike other types of crime, cybercrime is the fastest growing segment today. This is due to the increase in the number of users of the global Internet, and the constant increase in the level of technical equipment of cybercriminals and the development of information technology. So, over the past years, Belarus has seen a steady increase in registered cybercrimes: if in 2015 more than 2 thousand crimes were officially registered, then in 2020 - more than 25 thousand.

The Chairman of the SCST also noted that the rapid development of information technologies and software, the accumulation of a significant amount of data in various fields of activity were the main factors determining the development of artificial intelligence technologies. In his opinion, one of the promising areas for the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies is the sphere of transport and transport logistics: smart city technologies are increasingly being used; and technologies related to the improvement of urban infrastructure, unmanned vehicles are being created and smart traffic management systems are being developed. There is a great potential for the use of artificial intelligence in the field of healthcare. In particular, by analyzing unstructured data, artificial intelligence helps predict future diagnoses. This allows you to identify problems before they become a serious health risk. Promising technologies allow analyzing medical images, developing new types of medicines, and issuing recommendations for medical treatment.
