Horizon 2020: Belarusian scientists learn about the new framework program of the EU

ONT

More than 400 representatives of the Belarussian science have gathered today in Minsk in order to learn about the possibilities and conditions of the new framework program of the EU.

Horizon 2020 is the 8th EU’s program which finances researches of supranational importance.

This is a solution of the problems in the field of energy, health care and climate changes.

The development of innovative technologies draws much more attention.

The program with a record-breaking budget of 80 billion euros is designed for 7 years, and it may become the biggest one over the history of the EU.

Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus:

“We can judge about the attention paid by Europe to the innovative development by the volume of financing. It’s the same that Belarus does. There’s no other way for Belarus but the innovative one, and the participation in this program is very important”.

The head of the representative office of the European Union in Belarus said: “I just want to call Belarusians for submitting more applications, this is the reason we’re organizing these information workshops. I hope that both parties will benefit from this. The interaction may just enrich, this is that interest”.

The program is open for all the countries, and its budget is formed just by the European Union.  Belarus has quite a big experience of scientific cooperation with European institutes. The scientists worked by 55 different projects with the budget of about four million dollars in the previous EU’s program.

In particular, ultrastrong materials for industry were developed and there were researches in this field.
