The National Center fo Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus and the Cuban Industrial Property Office signed an agreement on cooperation and interaction.
The document was signed by Petr Brovkin, Director General of the NCIP, and Danilo Alonso Mederos, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Natural Resources of Cuba. The signing ceremony took place within the meeting of the Cuban delegation with Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus. According to the document, the parties are going to develop the cooperation in the field of the exchange of technological information for the economic development, as well as carry out the joint projects aimed at using industrial property tools.
The issues of implementation of joint Belarusian-Cuban projects were also discussed within the meeting, in particular, in the field of biomedicine and pharmacy, agriculture and IT-area.
The visit of the Cuban delegation to Belarus will last until August 28 of this year. The agenda of the visit also includes meetings and negotiations at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, the High Technology Park, the Minsk City Technological Park and the Polytechnic Technological Park.

The Cuban Industrial Property Office is a state body subordinate to the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment of the Republic of Cuba, whose function is to grant and register exclusive rights to the industrial property; to establish a legal regime and policy in this respect; to promote, develope and control this activity; and also to provide other specialized services in this field.
