Belarus and Spain going to sign an agreement on scientific-technical cooperation

The State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the State Secretariat on Research, Development and Innovation of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness of Spain are going to sign an agreement in the field of science and technology. Such an understanding was reached in the course of the meeting of Alexander Shumilin, the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology, with the management of the State Secretariat. The draft document was given to the Spanish party to be considered. It stands to mention that there is no separate agreement on scientific-technical cooperation of the Republic of Belarus and the Kingdom of Spain. According to Alexander Shumilin, in this connection “the Belarusian-Spanish interaction in the field of science, technology and innovation is not carried out completely”. He also said that the parties have a considerable potential in the field of a mutual technology transfer in priority areas of cooperation, including in the field of information technologies nanotechnologies and biotechnologies, medicine and new materials. At the same time, the technology transfer in Belarus may be carried out by the available structures, such as the Engineering Center of the SI “BelISA” and the Center of Commercialization of the NIPC. The issues of the cooperation with Spain in the framework of Horizon 2020, the EU program on science and innovation, were also considered during the meeting. ‘Belarus is interested in the implementation of the initiatives, including, in the field of the implementation of Horizon 2020 program. We are interested in receiving and adaptation of the best experience and practices of Spain. We also count on a certain assistance to Spain, including in the field of the further development of the Belarusian network of the national contact points of Horizon 2020 program. We understand that the activity of Belarusian partners depends on the professionalism and activity of these people in many ways.’

The meeting of the Chairman of the SCST Alexander Shumilin and the mayor of Malaga Fransisco de la Torre Prados, where the prospects of the creation of the joint technological park, as well as the interaction of the technological parks of Malaga with the ones of Brest and Minsk, also was held during the visit to Spain.

The Belarusian delegation headed by the Chairman of the SCST Alexander Shumilin takes part in TRANSFIERE International Specialized Exhibition in the field of science, technology and innovation, which is taking place in Malaga (the Kingdom of Spain) on February 15-16. More than 100 hi-tech and science-intensive developments and exhibits of the organizations and institutions of the Ministry of Education, the NAS of Belarus and the Ministry of Nature are presented at the National exposition of the Republic of Belarus.
