He also noted that at present the efforts of the CEI in the field of researches and innovations are aimed at the organization of the interaction between the European scientific space and the members of the Association, formally not included in it, including with Belarus.  ‘Firstly, it was achieved through the assistance to the joint participation in the programs financed by the EU, and, secondly, by means of the stimulation of the connections between the science and business,’ Alexander Shumilin explained.

It is expected to discuss the possibilities of the interaction in the field of biotechnologies, pharmaceutics and agriculture. It stands to mention that the world market of technologies is worth more than 330.3 billion USD (2015). By 2024 it will exceed the indicator of 775.2 billion USD with an annual increase of 10%. The residents of innovation infrastructure entities are actively engaged in the development of the research in the field of biotechnology and nanotechnology, medicine and pharmaceutics. The topic of promoting a compatibility in the expanding Europe ("Promoting connectivity in a Wider Europe") is determined  as the "title theme" of the Belarusian chairmanship. A program of the chairmanship has been formed, a number of events of which have been already held. The meeting of the CEI Parliamentary Committee, the meeting of the foreign ministers and the ministerial conference in the field of transport and logistics "Promoting Interrelations and Compatibility in the CEI Region: Bridging the Gap between Europe and Asia" are among them. The ministerial conference in the field of science and technology, which we consider to be one of the most significant international events within the Year of Science, which is being held in Belarus in 2017 is next.

Recommendations of the conference will be used in the preparation of the congress of scientists in December 2017 at which it is expected to adopt a strategy for the development of science in the Republic of Belarus.
