Belarus and Slovakia made a significant progress in expanding the contractual-legal basis in the areas of standardization, metrology, state regulation of nuclear safety, development of investment and trade and the development of scientific, technical and innovative cooperation. This was announced at the opening of the Slovak-Belarusian Innovation Forum by Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus.
According to him, the issues of the establishment of a joint commission for cooperation in the field of science and technology and the interaction within the European Union's science programs, including the EU program "Horizon 2020 " were discussed during the official visit of the Belarusian delegation to the Slovak Republic on April 27-28 of this year. It should be noted that Belarusian scientists, together with Slovak partners, carry out four projects in the field of science, education, social economy, information and communication for a total amount of more than 250,000 USD within the program of the European Union for Science and Innovation “Horizon 2020”.
‘Slovakia is an important partner for us in Central Europe. The mutual interest is represented by such areas as pharmaceuticals, nuclear energy, tire production, wood processing and gas industry,’ Alexander Shumilin stressed.
Almost three dozen companies already operate with the participation of the Slovak capital. One of them is Nativita pharmaceutical company, perhaps the most technologically advanced joint venture. The drugs are produced for the treatment of cancer there, as well as a number of autoimmune and severe infectious diseases. The Slovak Republic participates in this project not only as a technology, but also as an investment partner. The construction of a new plant in Beshenkovichi has been completed. Konštrukta Industry and VIPO companies of Slovakia actively participate in the modernization of the equipment at Belshina. Vzduchotorg and Milking companies have been cooperating with the Belarusian side for many years in the field of reconstruction of milk processing enterprises. The joint venture "Belarus Tractor Slovakia" has been operating in Slovakia, which produces tractors "Belarus-320.4" since 2011. This venture was created with the participation of the JSC "Bobruisk Plant of Tractor Parts and Aggregates" and MTZ Slovakia company.
