Three projects, including the production of sanitary and hygienic products made of flax and cotton, are expected to be implemented within the State Program for Innovative Development for 2016-2020 in Grodno Region. This was discussed at the meeting of Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, with Vladimir Kravtsov, Chairman of the Grodno Region Executive Committee. According to the documentation, the amount of financing for this project is 12,772,000,000 rubles, the implementation period is by 2021.

Currently, the LLC “MedLen” purchased a production and the storage building, equipment for processing and supplying cotton-linen fibers for diapers, as well as a line for the production of baby diapers.

The innovation of the project is to organize the production of new products for our country, such as sanitary and hygienic and medical products made from linen and cotton with the use of natural, biological pure materials (cotton and linen), which have a beneficial effect on human health and do not pollute the environment during the disposal. Unlike the existing diapers, the new BIO-diaper will be made of 100% natural materials contacting with the body.

The State Program for Innovative Development for 2016-2020 includes 75 projects for the creation of new industries. All of them are of decisive importance for the innovative development of Belarus. Of the projects included in the state program, 30 are based on the technologies of the 5th and 6th technological structures. 24 of them are based on domestic developments created by the results of scientific and technical programs. According to the program, the share of innovation-active organizations will be increased to 26%, and the share of innovative products should reach 21.5% by 2020. The share of high-tech and high-tech exports in the total volume of Belarusian exports will be 33%, and the number of created and modernized jobs will be about 9,000.

The Chairman of the SCST, Alexander Shumilin, took part in the meeting of the Grodno Region Executive Committee and held a personal reception of citizens during the visit to Grodno Region.
