Technology and Innovation Support Center was established at VSMU

Technology and Innovation Support Center was established at Vitebsk State Medical University. The corresponding agreement was signed today by the vice-rector for research work of VSMU Sergey Sushkov and the general director of the National Center for Intellectual Property Vladimir Ryabovolov.

The opening of the center at the university will make it easier for Vitebsk residents and residents of the region to search for information about existing scientific achievements and will open access to patent and non-patent databases of the World Intellectual Property Organization, NCIS and other free information resources in the field of intellectual property.

The creation of technology and innovation support centers in Belarus will facilitate the involvement of young people in the innovation process and improve the system for the protection and commercialization of intellectual property. This was announced at the seminar «Support for innovation and development of the TISC network» at the Vitebsk State Medical University, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Shumilin. According to him, such a service, as the work of the first centers in the country has shown, is in demand among our citizens. In 2020, in the Center for Technology and Innovation Support of the National Center for Intellectual Property alone, more than 4500 consultations of legal entities and individuals were held on the issues of registration, protection and transfer of rights to intellectual property objects.

The creation of the TISC network is an international project initiated by the World Intellectual Property Organization. It is aimed at developing the innovative potential of countries and regions by providing information and scientific and methodological support for users of the services of the centers in the field of scientific, scientific, technical and innovation activities.

Currently, there are nine TISCs in Belarus: one each at the Republican Scientific and Technical Library, its regional branches, at the Belarusian State University, at the «Great Stone» Industrial Park and at the National Center for Scientific Research. In the near future, it is planned to open several more centers on the basis of higher education institutions and libraries of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

During his visit to Vitebsk, the Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology Alexander Shumilin discussed with the management of OJSC «Vityaz» the implementation of an innovative project to create modern production facilities and produce charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, including fast-type Mode 4 charging stations.
