Technology and Innovation Support Center was opened at BrSTU

The National Center for Intellectual Property and Brest State Technical University signed today an agreement on the establishment of a Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC) on the basis of BrSTU.

The project to create and develop a network of TISCs in Belarus is being implemented jointly with the World Intellectual Property Organization. Currently, there are thirteen centers in the republic: one each at the Republican Scientific and Technical Library and its regional branches, at the Belarusian State University, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Vitebsk State Medical University, Polesie State University, Polotsk State University, in an industrial park «Great Stone» and NCIP.

Technology and innovation support centers play an important role in unlocking the innovative potential of each region and country as a whole. «This is a valuable resource for individuals and legal entities, which allows you to effectively use your own results of intellectual activity. Therefore, we strive to ensure that as many organizations and institutions throughout the country as possible are involved in this system», said Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus. According to him, in 2020 alone, the TISC of the National Center for Intellectual Property held more than 4,500 consultations of legal entities and individuals on the issues of registration, protection and transfer of rights to intellectual property. This figure testifies to the high public interest in the issues under consideration, and also demonstrates the effectiveness of the work carried out to popularize knowledge about intellectual property.

Today in Brest, a seminar is being held on the development of Technology and Innovation Support Centers and on topical issues of protection and management of intellectual property rights. It was organized by the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the Brest Regional Executive Committee, the National Center for Intellectual Property, and the Brest State Technical University.
